A free toolkit to build your supporter experience promise, manifesto and behaviours

May 21, 20262 min read

We're delighted to be one of the sponsors of the Fundraising Everywhere Supporter Experience Conference 2026. It was a pleasure to share some of our case study with Prostate Cancer Research.

For nearly three years we've been working with Prostate Cancer Research. I co-presented with Harry Ellison, Head of Community and Events. Together we walked through the framework and model we used to develop PCRs supporter experience promise, manifesto and set of behaviours — and how those have driven real improvements to the experience supporters now receive

PCR's story is one that will be familiar to a lot of charities. After several years of significant growth across individual giving and events, supporter experience hadn't kept pace. A first attempt at a manifesto in late 2024 stalled. Not for lack of intent, but because growth kept pulling the team's attention elsewhere, and the manifesto itself felt too abstract to act on day to day.

The 2026 refresh changed that. The team made the time deliberate, reviewed what had been done before, and made the biggest shift of all: moving from a manifesto to a clear set of behaviours. They picked two specific things to focus on, captured honest feedback as they went, and built supporter experience into the way the team now plans its work.

It's a process that any charity can run — and we've built a toolkit so you can.

You can access it completely free of charge here.

What's in the toolkit

We've packaged the whole approach into a free resource you can take back to your team. It includes:

  • Outlines for three workshops you can run with your team to create your own supporter experience promise, manifesto and behaviours framework

  • The slide deck to run them, designed so you can personalise it to your charity

  • A Socratic AI prompt that talks you through the process step by step, if you'd rather start on your own

It's completely free, and we hope you find it useful.

If you'd like a hand

The toolkit is built to be run by an internal champion and most charities can absolutely do this themselves. But if you'd like a bespoke version, or someone to facilitate the workshops with your team, that's something we offer through our supporter experience consultancy. We've done it with a number of charities and seen real improvements come out the other side.

We've also built the Thread Fundraising Supporter Experience Platform to help charities deliver on the promises they make — automating thank-yous, welcome journeys and stewardship across email, SMS and WhatsApp. This means good intentions don't get buried under to-do lists. Charities using our approach have doubled second gifts and lifted first-year regular giver retention from 48% to 68%. If you’d like a free demo to see how our platform can save you time, money and help deliver better experience then get in touch.
