Building Resilience: For Ourselves and Our Teams

October 01, 20251 min read

Resilience isn’t something we build once and check off a list. It’s an ongoing practice—both for ourselves and for the people we work alongside.

Often, the first step is simply realizing you are not alone. So many of us are carrying the weight of pressure, change, or uncertainty, and yet, when we share those experiences, the load feels lighter.

Personal resilience means tending to our own capacity; recognizing when we’re stretched, and finding small ways to restore. But it doesn’t stop there. True resilience also extends outward. It’s about helping those around us find steadiness too. Sometimes that’s offering encouragement. Other times it’s creating an environment where colleagues feel safe to pause, reset, and continue.

In the recording above - taken from a recent webinar - Emily talks us through a really helpful model to think about our current situation and how we might increase our resilience. It uses the metaphor of a boat and prompts reflection. If you’d like to work through the model and work through the questions at your own pace, you can download Emily’s slides here.
