Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need consent before sending messages?

Yes. PECR requires explicit opt-in consent for SMS and WhatsApp marketing. Thread has opt-in and opt-out management built in. A single, clearly worded checkbox on your registration or donation form is all you need to start.

What is the JustGiving integration setup fee?

£995 + VAT. This covers API configuration, journey build, template approval, and a guided walkthrough. It reflects approximately one day of skilled configuration work and typically pays for itself within a single campaign.

Can we use Thread just for WhatsApp, or just SMS?

Yes — you can use either or both channels. Thread Messaging is built for both, but you're not required to use both. Many charities start with SMS and add WhatsApp once they have opt-in consent from their list.

What happens if we run out of credits?

Auto top-up is built into all tiers. When your balance drops below £10, the card on file is automatically charged so your messages never fail mid-campaign. You can set a monthly spend cap if preferred.

Do we need technical expertise to set up Thread?

No. Pre-built templates and a guided setup mean most charities on Stitch and Weave are sending within hours. The JustGiving/Enthuse integration (Weave and Tapestry) is handled by the Thread team as part of the setup fee.
